Assembly
The Glue Roller takes minimal assembly out of the box. Just a few steps and you’re ready to start gluing.
Assemble 12v motor to motor bracket (18mm “long” screw)
Connect 12v motor bracket to motor riser(8mm “short” screw)
Insert aluminum doctor roller in to doctor roller risers and tighten set screws
Attach all components to base board as pictured, and leave loose to allow adjustment
Plug motor into the port labeled “M”
Roller Assembly
Slide roller onto drive shaft and align with indent
next slide bushing and collar onto the drive shaft and secure with set screw
add bearings to each side of the shaft and set into bearing slots on the risers
Adjust all risers to align drive shaft with coupler. Insert shaft into coupler and tighten set screw
Now tighten risers into the base board to secure in place
Tuning / Set-Up
Loosen the 4 screws (2 each) on the doctor roller assembly
Move aluminum roller towards / away from roller to fine tune glue application thickness
A good starting gap is about the thickness of pencil lead or a piece of paper folded twice
Operation
Plug in power supply to the port labeled “P”
Only fill glue pan to 1/2 of capacity or less (this is to avoid getting glue on the roller set screw)
Turn the control knob clockwise to switch device ON and adjust speed
Add glue as needed throughout the process by pouring into the pan
Under normal operations, the system can run for 2-3 hours before the glue begins to tack up (depends on environmental conditions)
Technique - Simply place your strip on the roller and pull back at the pace of the roller. Adjust the speed to your liking.
This takes some practice to get used to. Do some dry runs before adding glue!!
Clean-Up
Disengage shaft from the coupler with the set screw
Remove roller assembly and squeeze excess glue out of the roller into the pan
Remove collar and bushing from roller assembly
Remove roller and store in bucket of water (long term storage) or a small air tight container (short term storage)
For short term glue storage, glue can stay in the glue pan with the lid (2-3 weeks)
For long term glue storage, return excess glue to the original glue bottle (Longer than 3 weeks)
Clean doctor roller with damp paper towel and clean any other surfaces as needed
Keep bearings and roller shaft lubricated to avoid corrosion
